Prime Time

Just read an article about researchers at UCLA discovering a "humongous" prime number. (Really? Is "humongous" a mathematical term?) I dunno. I guess it appealled to the dormant math geek in me. Anyway, if you're a math geek, too, you might find it interesting. If you're not a math geek, then you definitely won't. LOL

No More Kodachrome?

For some reason this article about the demise of Kodachrome struck me. I don't know why it caught my attention, but it did. I love my digital camera, but, oh, I wish I had the patience and talent to use film on a regular basis. Oh well, technology progresses on . . .

The Perfect Party

September 15th, 2008, was my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. I can't imagine being married that long (and at my age, I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen to me). My sisters and I have been planning a party for them for a few months, and the party took place this past Monday. It was as close to perfect as we could have hoped.

The party took place on a Monday night, because my parents got married on a Monday night at a wedding chapel in L.A. We held the party at The Maxwell House, on the grounds of the Western Justice Center in Pasadena. The facility is gorgeous, and it was just perfect for our needs. The employees are very helpful, too.

Our caterer was Bistro 45, and we made the right choice. The food was fantastic, and the servers they hired were amazing.

Virna and her mom did the flowers, and they were absolutely gorgeous.

We kept the guest list small--there were fewer than 60 guests; we hoped to have an intimate dinner with old friends. This we were able to accomplish. All but one of the wedding party attended. (We weren't able to locate the last person; I think he lives in the Philippines.) The guests ate, talked, looked at pictures, and told stories. Auntie Daisy defied Hurricane Ike and arrived from the airport just as the party was starting. The Olivas drove in from Las Vegas, and the Napoleses came from Bakersfield.

Overall, it was everything we hoped for. We had a marvelous time, and, I hope, so did everyone else.

Shoes and Handbags

Some stuff I've gotten in my email box over the past little while. :)

Random . . . .

These are pictures from a couple of Kate Spade ads I got in my email this week. I'm not even going to post prices this time. Just look and enjoy. :)

Space Cruise

Just read this article about a Battlestar Galactica cruise, including Richard Hatch! Too funny! I think I'd be afraid to go on a cruise like that!

AHA!

So I just read that thinking a lot supposedly makes a person eat more. THAT must be it! I must be thinking REALLY HARD! A LOT!!! :)

Life without TV???

I just read this article about people who live without TV. I have nothing else to say. I just thought it was interesting. LOL.

Today's Chinese Horoscope

This was today's Chinese Horoscope for me. Oddly, much of it is true, and most of the rest of it I am waiting to come true. Interesting . . .

You'll make some good business deals or will find a more remunerative job. Don't mull over pointless questions of life after death. You'll be subject to digestive and intestinal troubles due mostly to your anxiety and excessive nervousness. Family concerns or uneasiness about the health of a near one will somewhat disturb your life. You'll savor the delights of love. But this should not prevent you from taking care of other sectors of your existence, otherwise it will not take you long to know many disappointments.

Another Kate Spade Ad

This is the ad I got in my email yesterday or today. I think it's a stunning ad. That red bag is so striking in the picture.

The bag itself is gorgeous! And it even comes in eggplant. :)It is a lovely $375. Tee hee.

Drama

I'm tired of drama. I'm tired of people thinking they are entitled to something, when it is really none of their business. I'm tired of selfish people. I'm tired of self-centered people (you really can be one without the other). I'm tired of people who feel the need to be offended at every little thing.

Overall, I'm tired of drama.

Whatever Happened to My Town?

Although my address is Los Angeles, I really grew up in Glendale. I attended school and church in Glendale. I like to shop at the Glendale Galleria. It's one of the few cities that I actually know my way around. But these days I'm starting to hate Glendale.

Let's start with the traffic. When did Glendale get such bad traffic? And it's not just that the traffic is heavy. It's that the streets are filled with bad and rude drivers. I seriously fear for my life every time I drive through town now. People swerve randomly, stop in the middle of the road, and yell and swear when they do these things. Oh, and don't get me started on the people who randomly cross the street without looking. Idiots.

This leads me to the parking situation. What the hell??? Did no one in Glendale ever learn what a parking lot is for? And what is the deal with following people to their cars? The parking lot is not full, idiots. Park your stupid car and WALK! Seriously.

And then there's the shopping. Honestly, I love shopping, but shopping in Glendale is beginning to be such a huge pain in my ass. Other shoppers are incredibly rude, cutting in front of me in line, leaving their carts in the middle of nowhere, or having conversations in front of displays. The cashiers are not much better, having long, meaningful talks (usually not in English) with other customers while the lines get longer and longer.

I think I'm going to confine most of my shopping to Pasadena and Burbank, throwing in downtown L.A. and the Valley when I get to those places. It may be better for my sanity.

Life at Its Finest

Today I attended a birthday party for a one-year-old named Allison. She's the daughter of my cousin Janet and her husband Anthony. She's absolutely adorable, and the party was a lot of fun. It's hard to believe that my little cousin has a baby.

The food at the party was awesome. I haven't eaten like that in a long time. I'm probably going to regret it tomorrow, but for today, it was GREAT!

I got to meet some new people, including Anthony's sister Elaine and her friends. It's nice to meet new nice people. :)

The coolest part of today was getting to hang out with my cousin Liza. She looks so awesome, just for a regular person, never mind the fact that she just had chemo AND radiation. I'm so proud of her, and I know she's just going to keep on getting better every day.

Seriously, it's life at its finest--celebrating a young life, eating good food, making new friends, spending time with family, and celebrating life itself.
